Elmwood Cemetery is owned, managed and operated by the City of Grayling.

It is the aim of the City to maintain and perpetuate quiet places, sacredly devoted to the interment and repose of the deceased. In this objective, the support and cooperation of all concerned is essential. The general care provided by the City must be supplemented by the unified efforts of those interested.

Worked with us throughout the entire process and had a great attitude through it all. It ended up taking us 6 months to decide on a design for the stone, and not only were they patient, they also were very willing to accommodate any change we had even thought about. Thank you Shelley! You were so helpful to me in getting a headstone. It was a unique request for my great uncle who died as a baby with the influenza epidemic of 1918, he never got a marker. You helped me through all the decisions, some I had no clue like the lettering and shiny or mat finish.I can’t wait to see the finished product when it’s delivered. Thanks again Shelley!

Besides human gravestones and cemetary markers, this company also offers pet memorial stones, like the kind you'd put in a garden and/or next to a backyard burial site. What makes Black Monument Company stand out is that they actually do the etching of the words right there in-house vs. a couple other places I called in town (pet cemetaries like Noah's) where they have to send away for custom stones, which takes days or weeks and costs more money. I was very happy with Black Monument Co - the pet grave marker they designed is a perfect sweet way to honor the memory of my dear departed furry friend.
